My yarn basket — white
For this one I used worsted cotton — white 120g main, black scrap for eyes and smile. White is warm white — soft, not bright. 4.5mm hook for ghost body so it's soft and a little fluffy, 5mm hook for hanging loop so it's strong and thick.

How a ghost plant hanger works — body + arms + loop
A ghost plant hanger has three parts: ghost body that is hollow at bottom like a hat, two arms that hug the pot, and a hanging loop at top that goes over a hook.
Body starts at top with magic ring and increases to 48 stitches — that's widest part at round 8. Then I go straight for 12 rounds with 48 stitches — that's the main ghost body — about 5" tall. Then I make wavy bottom edge — that makes ghost bottom wavy, not straight. Arms are separate — 3.5" long — sewn on sides so they wrap around pot. Hanging loop is twisted chain — strong enough for plant + pot + soil — about 30g total weight.
Pot fits inside ghost bottom hollow — ghost bottom is open like bowl — pot sits inside, arms hug sides — so ghost looks like it's holding your plant — just like in your photo with pothos plant.

At R8 you have 48 stitches — that's widest — 4" wide. I keep 48 for 12 rounds R9-20 — that's main ghost body — 5" tall. Then I taper slightly to 42 at R21 for wavy bottom to sit nicely.

Wavy bottom — ghost bottom edge
R25: [ch 2, dc in same st, 2 dc in next st, sl st in next st] repeat around — makes 14 waves — 42 stitches consumed — 42÷3=14 waves — verified — wavy edge — 5.5" wide tip-to-tip when stretched at wavy scallop points, 4.5" wide usable opening when stretched at inner valley where pot actually sits — wavy tips stick out 0.5" beyond usable opening — fits 3" terracotta pot easily with 0.75" clearance on each side
Wavy bottom is what makes it look like ghost — not straight — 14 waves around. Each wave is 3 stitches: ch2, dc, 2dc, sl st. That makes little scallop.
Arms — make 2 — that hug pot

R3-10: sc around — 9 sc each round — 8 rounds — arm 3.5" long — tube
R11: [sc, dec] 3 times — 6 sc — close tip slightly
Fasten off — leave long tail — stuff lightly with white scrap yarn — not too full — so arm bends and hugs pot
Make 2 arms — both 3.5" long — 9 sc around
Arms are 3.5" long — tube with 9 stitches around — lightly stuffed so they bend and hug pot. I sew them at R14-16 of body — left and right sides — angled slightly forward so they wrap around pot.
Ghost parts — two ghosts with arms, hanging loop coiled, little crochet stars and circles — real photo on linen — arms 3.5" long, loop 8" long.
Face — eyes and smile
Eyes: embroider 2 black eyes at R12-13 of body, 8 stitches apart — each eye 3 stitches wide × 2 stitches tall — small oval — with tiny white highlight 1 stitch if you want — like in photo — sweet sleepy eyes
Smile: embroider smile at R15-16, centered between eyes — U shape — 3 stitches wide — small — like in photo — happy ghost
Face is sweet — black eyes and smile — like in your photo with pothos plant — I use black worsted scrap, not safety eyes, so it's soft for plant hanger.
Hanging loop — twisted chain — strong
Ch 40, sc in 2nd ch and each ch — 39 sc — row 1
Row 2: ch 1, sc 39 — second row makes it thick and strong — twist: after row 2, twist chain 3 times before sewing ends together — makes spiral like in photo — fasten off — leave long tail
Loop length: 8" long when finished — twisted — feels sturdy for a light 3" pot with a little soil and small pothos — like in photo — plant + pot + soil is light — I use terracotta 3" with just a little soil — feels secure for a small indoor plant — test with your pot first — for heavier pots use cotton cord inside loop for extra strength
Sew loop to top of ghost head at R1-2 — center top — strong — go through 3 times for strength
Hanging loop is twisted chain — 40 chains, 2 rows sc, twisted 3 times — makes spiral like in your photo — strong — I sew it 3 times through top of head so it doesn't break with plant weight.
Assembly — arms that hold 3" pot
1. Ghost body hollow — open at bottom — 4.5" wide opening when stretched — fits 3" terracotta pot
2. Sew arms at R14-16 of body — left arm at left side, right arm at right side — angled forward — so arms wrap around pot — use long tail — whip stitch 9 stitches around arm base
3. Place 3" terracotta pot inside ghost bottom hollow — pot rim should be at R20-21 level — about 1" down from top of wavy bottom
4. Bend arms around pot — arms hug pot sides — pot sits inside ghost — ghost looks like holding plant — like in photo
5. Hanging loop at top — hang from brass hook — plant + pot + soil is light — loop feels sturdy for a small 3" pot with pothos — like in photo — test with your pot first
6. Weave all tails inside — white inside white — 3 stitches forward, 3 back — cut close
Assembly is easy — pot inside hollow, arms around pot — ghost holds your plant. I use 3" terracotta pot with pothos like in your photo — trailing pothos vines hang down through ghost bottom — looks like ghost holding trailing plant.
